Andrew Gromiller Biography

Andrew Gromiller is a musician of many talents, the strongest of which is his voice. Currently, Andrew is the Lead Singer and Band Leader of his Rhythm & Blues / Funky Soul Band, "Andrew Gromiller and the Organically Grown".

Andrew’s Training and Experience all began at a very young age. Andrew has been performing in live bands since age 13; he received his first standing ovation during Junior High Class Concert singing, “Come Sail Away”. From 8th through 12th grade, Andrew won High School Battle of the Bands every year with the bands (Slight Return, Code City R&B, and Code Blue). Andrew performed the lead role in the Senior play, “Bye, Bye Birdie”, and performed solo’s in all the school performances. Andrew was the vocalist in a professional blues band since age 17. Andrew received the High School Gifted and Talented Award (only two students received this award per year). Andrew was 1 of 2 freshmen students chosen for the Select Choir; he was a member of the Select Choir from 9th through 12th grade and traveled to England, Senior Year for a tour.

At age 16 Andrew studied under his mentor, Georgia Louis (Louis Armstrong's Musical Godchild). Georgia was also the first black woman to have her own television program called, "T.V. Gospel Time", in the early 1960's. Andrew and his wife Christine Gromiller executive produced a Georgia Louis' Singing Lesson, Volume One, available for sale here.

At 18-years of age, during a show at the Road House Café in NYC, Etta James heard Andrew singing in the audience during the song, “Your Real Good Thing”, and Etta pulled him up on the stage. Andrew, arm in arm with Etta, sang the song, “Dust My Broom”.  Andrew closed the show that night with Etta’s Band. Around that same time, Andrew was invited to sit-in and sing with other outstanding performers, such as Billy Preston and Maceo Parker.

Andrew studied at Berklee College of Music, participating as a member of the Berklee Reverend’s Gospel Ensemble. Andrew sang solo’s among the 50-member choir, as well as duets with friend and classmate Susan Tedeschi.

Next, Andrew went on to become lead singer for the band Tongue-N-Groove, touring with more than 150 shows per year during his college years and afterwards (playing Funky-soul, R&B). After about four years of Tongue-N-Groove, Andrew formed his band Andrew Gromiller and the Organically Grown.  The band was just a trio at the time, opening three shows for Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band; at those shows, for the encore song of his opening set, Andrew sang solo and played his acoustic guitar to the song, “How Great Thou Art”, which drew a standing ovation from the crowd two of the three nights.

From the year 2000 to the present, Andrew Gromiller has played at the Gathering of the Vibes Festival in Connecticut and New York in various ensembles, including: solo-acoustic, Andrew Gromiller and the Organically Grown, Organically Grown Gospel Hour, and sit-ins with headlining act, "Deep Banana Blackout".

Andrew Gromiller, as well as being an Experienced Vocalist, Andrew is also a Songwriter, Guitarist, Bassist, Keyboardist, and Organist involved in the Music Industry. Andrew looks forward to all future musical opportunities to perform with his band, “Andrew Gromiller and the Organically Grown”, for Weddings, Private Parties, Corporate Events, and Festivals. Andrew is also embellishing opportunities to Tour with his Band as a National Act; Lead Vocal Tracks, Duets, and or Harmony Backups in Studio Recording Sessions; Voice Overs, Movie Scores, and Soundtracks.
